Senior Account Executive - PR & Social

We’re looking for a senior PR & social account executive, based at our Leatherhead office. If you have a genuine love of writing, can think on your feet, juggle a demanding workload and communicate effectively at all levels then we’re looking for you. Technical B2B PR experience would be ideal, construction experience a true bonus!

The role will predominantly involve technical writing, client and media liaison, social media management, video production, account administration and some event organisation.

Summary of Job

  • To play a crucial role in one of our award-winning PR account teams. Primarily, this involves writing and researching press releases, case studies and features and producing content for social media feeds, as well as day to day account administration.

Reporting line

  • Reporting directly to an Account Director

Main responsibilities

  • The research, writing and distribution of press releases and case studies
  • Briefing journalists, attending journalist meetings and/or presentations
  • Selling in and writing feature articles
  • Managing clients’ social media accounts
  • Developing filming briefs and interview points and conducting interviews on film
  • Attending client meetings and preparing contact report / minutes and other client materials
  • Sourcing photographic quotes and preparation of photographic briefs
  • Attending trade exhibitions
  • Event organising
  • Participation in new business presentations
  • Providing research to inform pitches and ongoing client work
  • Attending journalist and client events outside of office hours for relationship building / networking

Key Competencies

Commercial insight

Should have an understanding of each client’s business activities, key issues and competitive advantage and be able to identify opportunities to promote the client and their activities based on these platforms.

Strategic Thinking

Should be able to understand how their individual input contributes to the client’s overall marketing strategy.

Creative Thinking

Should participate in brainstorming sessions and actively explore different avenues for a client based on a particular brief. Should be able to identify relevant content for social media feeds.

Time Management

Can multi-task and work to set deadlines. Manage own workload.

Copywriting

Demonstrate a true understanding of the client’s brief by effectively communicating the key message in simple, concise copy that is relevant to the reader. It is expected that the client will make some changes to the copy, however these shouldn’t be grammatical or spelling corrections and they should not need to make the same changes on more than one occasion.

Presentation Skills

Should be articulate and be able to present ideas and proposals to clients, when required. Should be able to communicate with contacts at all levels.

Trouble Shooting

Client should feel confident that any problem is being given due attention and that immediate action is being taken to ensure that the right person (if it cannot be handled by the SAE) is fully informed of the situation. The senior account executive should demonstrate initiative, not necessarily in solving the problem themselves, but in ensuring it is tackled by an appropriate person as soon as is possible.
