A Fresh Start At CIB

Arriving on an unusually hot April morning, I rang the doorbell (cheesy grin plastered across my face) and stepped through the door for the first time as a CIB employee. I had been eager to join an agency with like-minded and creative people, so was thrilled to be starting here as a PR Account Executive.

Everyone is nervous on his or her first day but by this point, my excitement was outweighing the nerves. I cheerily introduced myself to my new colleagues and became very well acquainted with where the tea and coffee stash is. I tried to remember who everyone was by doodling the office plan and assigning names to seats as if I were planning a wedding reception or dinner party – but by week two I had no need for it anymore as I had quickly gotten to know all the wonderful and, sometimes quirky, personalities that complete CIB. We even had cake at my first company meeting!

Over the following weeks I met with my clients and managed to fit in a few trade shows as well! A personal highlight was the Grand Designs Live show at Excel, London – we went to see Internorm’s fabulous exhibition stand but it was also a great chance for me to meet with some of the people I will be working with. Later in the month, the buzz of the General Election seeped into office chatter and Andy C came up with the fun idea to hold “The Big CIB General Election”. Once we had all cast our votes it was quite entertaining to hear all the mini-debates that crept up here and there, right up to the election results day.

The old saying goes that time flies when you’re having fun, and that’s certainly been the case for me. I’ve managed to squeeze a lot in to my first few months; I’ve written press releases, case studies, social media content (I love writing a punny tweet or two) and have undertaken a lot of research to get up to speed with my clients’ needs.

Since I’ve joined we’ve also welcomed other newbies so I’m not the only one asking all the questions, and seeing the company grow around me continues to motivate me. I’m still learning and there’s still a lot more that I can look forward to getting involved with. I’m so grateful to be in an environment where I fit in, and where my skills are not just based on physical outcomes but on the energy and passion with which I deliver them.
