Reimagining competitions

Every year, our long-standing client, Forbo Flooring Systems, runs an exciting competition for architects, interior designers and specifiers, where they can win an incredible once in a lifetime trip to New York. But when the pandemic hit and travel abroad was limited, it was time to rethink the competition...

Following various discussions internally, Forbo decided to change the prize to a luxury staycation in the UK, to make it more accessible without compromising on excitement. Once the prize was decided, it was over to us…

Our first step was to flesh out the prize, as Forbo wanted to provide inspiration to those that entered the competition. As such, we spent a lot of time researching some incredible places around the UK, which we could use within promotional material to show just how luxurious and exciting the staycation prize could be. For example, we found the Port Lympne Safari Park in Kent, where the winner could spend time alongside wild animals and the Forest Domes in Northern Ireland where they could sleep under the stars and fully embrace nature.

Once we’d found our inspirational locations, it was then time to develop a series of assets, including animations and a nice brochure all about the competition, which we could use across Forbo’s social media platforms and website.

We also distributed a press release to the A&D publications to drum up online and print coverage and developed a targeted social media advertising campaign to extend the reach of the competition further.

When the winner and highly commended winner were finally announced, we drafted a blog about each of the winning project’s for Forbo’s Making Spaces into Places blog page.

Although the competition was running during the middle of the pandemic, Forbo still received a number of brilliant entries.
