Luckily, two months in, everything seems to be going well. I’ve only been late once (thankfully not on my first day) and I am yet to be the cause of any major mishaps.
Within my first week of joining CIB I learnt a huge range of things; a short history of the construction PR industry, the products and clients I would be working with as well as the more “important” things such as which football teams I should or shouldn’t be supporting.
One of the things I was most looking forward to when I was offered the role at CIB, was the opportunity to learn and develop skills in using social media for clients. The use of Twitter, Facebook and other unique platforms such as Pinterest to reach target audiences was an area in which I had little experience.
Being given the opportunity and support to develop new skills, surrounded by an agency full of people experienced in using social media to increase their clients online presence was brilliant.
Within my first week I drafted three social media schedules, created a promoted post campaign and scheduled more tweets than I’ve ever tweeted! Although staying with a 140-character limit can be difficult, it also means thinking more creatively to produce engaging content.
Having now produced more than 10 social media schedules, with varying tones, audiences and styles, I feel confident in my developing ability to produce good content for use on a variety of social media platforms.
Alongside social media, I’ve also been immersed in traditional PR, writing press releases, case studies, synopses and feature articles, learning more about my clients and their products along the way.
Although I’d never used a Mac before April, I regularly forget my office door key and I don’t drink quite enough tea to keep up with my colleagues, I’d say things, so far, are going quite well!
