Welcoming 2024: The year for timber

It’s an exciting time to be working with timber clients, as the launch of the Timber in Construction (TiC) Policy Roadmap has confirmed the Government’s commitment to this versatile and sustainable material – meaning 2024 is shaping up to be a milestone year for the sector.

Released by DEFRA (the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) just before Christmas, the long-awaited policy document is the culmination of many months of collaboration between Government and industry leaders, including our client the Structural Timber Association (STA).

Contributing research and data to help address the impact that timber can have on the reduction of CO2, the STA was a key member of the TiC working group, which identified barriers to the expansion of timber in construction and the solutions that can be implemented.

We worked with the STA to develop a swift response to the launch of the policy document, welcoming the important sea-change it signals. With attention now turning to implementation of the policy recommendations, we’ll support the STA in leading the debate on this key topic as it continues to unfold.
