Making an impression at Light + Building

To support Thorn Lighting’s presence at Light + Building 2026 we worked closely with its global marketing team to produce a range of assets, including an attention-grabbing brand video, to bring the exhibition stand to life.

Light + Building is the world’s leading trade show for lighting, electrical engineering, and smart building automation, making it an incredibly important event for Thorn Lighting, part of Zumtobel Group. Held in Frankfurt, the event attracts nearly 145,000 visitors from around the world. With the exhibition taking place only once every two years, Thorn needed to make an impact on an audience it would not have the opportunity to reach again until 2028.

With planning for its impressive 230 square metre stand underway, Thorn approached us, as its trusted partner in brand communications, to create a range of assets that would showcase its expertise and highlight its latest product innovations.

One of the central elements was a brand video, designed to demonstrate Thorn’s knowledge, experience and products in a wide range of sectors. The video was to be played on the large main screen suspended above the stand.

We worked closely with the Thorn team to curate existing product video and combine it with stock footage in a way that worked perfectly with the carefully crafted voiceover script and bespoke soundtrack. With a mix of different sources of video, the editing was crucial in ensuring a consistent look and feel. It also needed to work with and without the voiceover. It would be played at the press launch with the soundtrack and voiceover and then silently throughout the show. We also created a video in the same style that focused specifically on Thorn’s sports and stadia capabilities. This was displayed on a large portrait screen and served as a lead-in to the sports area of the stand.

Additionally, we created a number of assets to support the display of its UrbaSense range of IoT lighting control systems. We produced simple and clear stand graphics to explain the three main solutions – UrbaSense Move, UrbaSense Connect and UrbaSense Play. We also developed an innovative interactive presentation that served as one of the main resources for visitors to explore the range in greater detail. The easy-to-navigate presentation included videos created by our team that demonstrate the simple and intuitive functionality of the UrbaSense solutions, product information, and case studies illustrating how the UrbaSense range is already delivering in real-world applications.

Finally, we worked with the Thorn team to create a professional presentation deck for the press event that kicked off Light + Building, and which included the first screening of the new brand video.

For a second time in a row, the collective Zumtobel Group stand won the Designplus Sustainable Exhibition Stand award, presented on the first day of Light + Building 2026. Among the key reasons for the win was the strong focus on reducing emissions and ensuring the sustainable reuse of as many of the stand’s materials and elements as possible.

“As the world's leading trade fair for lighting, and one that only comes around every two years, the pressure to get it right was immense, particularly presenting in the main hall for the second time. It really is all hands on deck at a fair of this scale. We needed assets that could do a lot of heavy lifting across a busy stand, from a brand video playing above the crowds to interactive presentations helping thousands of visitors understand our solutions. As they have consistently done across five years of working together, CIB delivered on time and produced an impactful, wide-ranging set of assets, because they truly operate as an extension of our marketing team.”
