Case study videos have remained a popular PR and marketing tool, being a fantastic way to bring our clients’ products to life using real-world examples. At CIB, we support at all stages, including briefing the videographer, supporting on the day and conducting interviews with key stakeholders.
No two case study videos are the same – a fact perfectly demonstrated by my experience over the last month, travelling first to Greenwich, London, then up to Newcastle and finally Edinburgh.
In Greenwich, I had the amazing opportunity to gain out-of-hours access to the National Maritime Museum, where our long-standing client Forbo Flooring Systems had its custom, digitally printed vinyl flooring installed in the newly refurbished Ocean Court, as a 440sqm map of the ocean. On camera, we interviewed representatives from the museum itself, as well as the flooring contractor and flooring designer, gaining insight into the incredible project.
Then it was up to Newcastle for our client Trimble (the global construction software provider), where we were interviewing a key customer of theirs, who had travelled to the offices for a training day. With both time and opportunities for b-roll limited, here it was all about getting the most out of the interviews for a “talking heads” style video, making the customers feel comfortable and confident on camera and letting them (literally) do the talking.
Most recently, a whirlwind trip to Edinburgh was for another different style of case study video – again for Trimble. Highlighting that their digital software is just as much for SMEs as it is for Tier One contractors, the day was spent with a self-employed structural engineer, who works out of his home office. From chatting about the work/life balance of setting up on his own and having a cuppa at the dining table, to meeting the family cat and filming b-roll of him out and about on his bike (as he explained, he often cycles to meet customers); it was all about capturing the human element of running a small business within the construction industry.
All three videos will be coming soon to websites and social media channels, so keep your eyes peeled!
