Filming at Ardgowan Distillery: The Cathedral of Whisky

I recently travelled to the west coast of Scotland to Inverkip to film a case study video for one of our clients, Kalzip. Inverkip is home to the new Ardgowan Distillery, which has quickly become one of the country’s most striking whisky landmarks, and its bold architectural form made it an ideal setting for the project.

Wrapped in Kalzip’s dual-tone bronze and red copper aluminium, the building’s flowing roofline and seamless façade deliver instant cinematic impact. It’s a structure that naturally performs on camera, and it was a pleasure to interview several key stakeholders behind it, including the founder, Roland.

Designed by Spitzbart & Partners and technically delivered by Hypostyle Architects, the distillery’s complex roof geometry demanded a highly flexible cladding solution, something Kalzip’s standing seam system was uniquely positioned to provide. Installed by Fowler McKenzie, the finished envelope feels both sculptural and deeply rooted in the surrounding Inverclyde landscape.

To showcase this, we captured the architecture using a combination of ground and aerial footage, highlighting the building’s form and the craftsmanship behind it. In the final edit, we brought together the design narrative, the material innovation and the ambition that shaped this “cathedral of whisky.”

Keep an eye out for Kalzip’s next stunning case study video on their YouTube and social media channels.
