New packaging is a great way to invigorate a brand and create interest. However, one issue it does throw up is that much of the existing photography then becomes obsolete. For one client, due to re-launch two brands later this summer, my neighbourhood WhatsApp Group came to the rescue.
We all know how hard it can be to find sites for application photography and video – and for our latest shoot the remit was wide; bathrooms, kitchens, windows, patios, driveways, roofs and rainwater systems. After a shout-out on the street’s ‘Group’ five houses were secured, allowing us to capture authentic photography and video of actual applications. Not only did we delight my neighbours by completing lots of little jobs around their homes, we also gained loads of new material too.
Ever mindful of making our clients’ budgets go further, the tactic negated the need for location fees. We then used the three-day shoot to capture how-to videos, application and life-style photography – and we also enlisted influencer Martyn Cooper to undertake some of the work and create a social series too.
With the re-brands yet to be launched I’ll leave the unveiling until then – but suffice to say it was really rewarding to manage such a major shoot and I look forward to rolling out all the assets soon!
